Editorial policy
Every Talklio guide is researched from primary sources, linked to the evidence behind it, reviewed by a person before it's published, and checked again when things change. We tell you when we're comparing our own product, we never accept payment for coverage, and we fix mistakes quickly and openly.
Our guides exist to be genuinely useful to people who want more privacy and less noise online. Some of them also mention Talklio. Here's how we keep them trustworthy.
Who writes our content
Guides, comparisons and help pages are written and edited by the team that builds Talklio. We know the subject because we work on it every day: encryption, disappearing messages, and the practical side of stepping back from social media. Every article shows when it was last updated.
How we research
- Primary sources first. We go to the original: a company's own help pages, the published study, the official report. When we rely on a secondary source, we link to it so you can judge it yourself.
- Every factual claim is linked. Statistics, quotes and product details link to where they came from, and each guide ends with a list of its sources.
- Studies, described honestly. When we cite research, we say how large it was and what its limits are, rather than overselling a single result.
- Product steps are checked against current versions. Apps change their menus often. We check instructions against the latest version we can verify and give the date.
How we use AI tools
We sometimes use AI tools to help with research, outlining and first drafts. A person on our team reviews, edits and fact-checks everything before it's published. AI tools never decide what we recommend, and we don't publish pages generated in bulk.
Comparing other apps fairly
We make Talklio, so we have an obvious interest in how it compares. To keep comparisons fair:
- We say clearly on comparison pages that Talklio is our product.
- We describe where other apps are the better choice, and recommend them when they are.
- Claims about other apps link to their own documentation or reputable independent sources.
- We never accept payment, affiliate commissions or free products in exchange for coverage.
Keeping things up to date
Privacy features, prices and settings change fast. We review our most-read guides and every comparison page regularly, and whenever we learn something has changed. The "Updated" date at the top of each page changes only when the content itself has been meaningfully revised.
Corrections
If you spot a mistake, email hello@talklio.app with the page and what's wrong. We'll check it promptly. If we got something wrong, we'll fix it and update the page date. For significant errors, we'll add a short note explaining what changed.
Independence
Talklio is free and has no advertisers. Nobody pays us to mention, rank or review anything.
